5 Minutes of Fame for $5 Fundrasier III

 

_______What: Anything goes for 5 minutes, bring your talent to Soul Invictus at 7pm, sign up, pay $5 and take the stage!! (It's first come, first served, spaces are limited.)

Not interested in performing, but are dying with curiosity to see what sort of awesome acts local talen...t can bring? You can see the show at 8pm for the low, low price of only $10!!!! It's a win-win situation, you get to see a mystery grab bag of Phoenix comedians, dancers, singers, poets, puppeteers, jugglers...basket weavers? As an added bonus, we're making it a contest! Patrons, vote for your favorite act . The winner takes home $1 of every ticket sold at the door!!!

Who: YOU!! Do you have a talent, or no talent at all? As long as you have $5 and arrive at Soul Invictus* at 7pm, you have a slot. You can bring one CD. You will have exactly 5 minutes, this includes set up and break down of your act. Think we are kidding? Not hardly, the lights and sound will be cut at exactly 5 minutes. We want a variety of performances, anything goes: squeaky clean, blue as 'ell, good, bad, ugly, weird, conventional, etc.** If you have a question, ask.

When: Saturday February 4. Talent, arrive at 7pm. Show starts at 8pm.

How Much: $5 to play, $10 to watch. (Please feel free to pay more for anything, this is, after all, a fundraiser, Baby ) Water and Hot Dogs will be available for purchase. Alcohol is not allowed.

*Soul Invictus is: A performance space specializing in theatre performances that feature local writers. Home to Th[Sic] Sense Sketch Comedy Troupe, Arizona Curriculum Theatre and Soul Invictus Productions. In front of the performance space is a one of a kind art gallery featuring a new local visual artist each month. Occasional First Friday events contain performances, bands and nude painting. This place is not for the easily offended :)

Join us for First Friday in October for the gallery opening of "Garden of Thoughts", a solo exhibition of recent paintings by local artist Rebecca Hollingsworth.

"The majority of work is a visual study of my spiritual marathons in life. Many of the recent works focus on internal dialogs or mediations... whatever I've been chewing on. In last few years, I've wor...ked on developing layers of paintings that reveal abstracted landscapes and textures underneath the human form. The weight of the form sink, floats or covers its visual world. Lines dance and textures mingle, giving me a moments of joy and occasional frustration. Creation is not easy but I enjoy the complicated intersections between abstract and the physical. It keeps me coming back for more."
